BOT’s Second Quarterly Meeting in 2015





The second quarterly meeting of the APMC Board of Trustees for 2015, with Dean Joselito F. Villaruz as President, was held last June 16, 2015 in Anabel’s Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon City.



Parts of the 2agenda were review of the committee chairs and members, status of proposal to harmonize the schedule of PLE and Internship, updates on the 2016 APMC Annual Convention and its Golden Anniversary in 2017. Dr. Margarita Guerrero of San Beda College of Medicine presented the program for the 49th convention. San Beda College of Medicine shall host the convention in February 2016.


Present in the meeting were Dean Joselito Villaruz, APMC President; Dean Agnes Mejia, APMC Vice President; Dean Alfaretta Luisa Reyes, Treasurer; Dr. Ramon Arcadio, Deputy Executive Director; and members, Dr. Alberto Roxas, Dean Jesus Valencia, Dean John Anthony Domantay, Dean Fortunato Cristobal, Dr. Agaton Panopio, Dean Petronilo Basa, Dr. Walden Ursos and Mr. Noel Bernardo, President of the APMC-Student Network. 

CME, Curriculum and Faculty Development Committee Chairs Joint Meeting on May 28, 2015


The chairs of CME, Curriculum and Faculty Development Committees had a meeting on May 28, 2015 which was held in Anabel’s Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon City, in preparation for the upcoming APMC’s 49th Annual convention. They resolved to have a Faculty Development Workshop during the year before the convention in February 2016, which will be brought up to the next Board of Trustees meeting on June 16, 2015 for approval. 

Present in the meeting were Dr. Remedios Dee Chan, Curriculum Committee, Dr. Enrico B. Gruet, Faculty Development Committee, Dr. Normando Gonzaga, Continuing Medical Education (CME) and Dr. Melflor Atienza, member of the CME Committee.

Special BOT Meeting on January 6, 2015

The APMC Board of Trustees had a special meeting on January 6, 2015 at the Annabel’s Restaurant, Tomas Morato, Quezon City to consider for approval the recommendation of the Committee on Organizational Development to amend the Articles of the Association & By-laws of the Association as follows:

  1. Article Two of the Articles on the principal purpose of the Association;
  2. To drop the word “Foundation” in the corporate name of the Association both in the Articles and By-laws and all words “foundation” in several provisions of the Articles and By-laws be changed to “association”;
  3. Article VIII of the Articles to include that not more than thirty per cent (30%) of its funds shall be spent for administrative purposes.

Present in the meeting were the members of the BOT spearheaded by the APMC President, Dr. Alberto Roxas.

Execom Meeting on November 2014

APMC Execom conducted a meeting on November 24, 2014 at Annabel Restaurant, Quezon City. The following agenda have been discussed during the meeting:

  1. Limit student attendance during convention
  2. SWU-MHAM Dean’s request for plain clothes security details at APMC Convention in Davao City
  3. Administrative cost for servicing student network finances
  4. Review of financial report of 2014 convention (OLFU)
  5. Updates on 2015 Convention

The 47th APMC Annual Convention

APMC conducted its 47th annual convention from February 5 to 7, 2014. This  is hosted by Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) with the theme: “Reforms in Medical Education”. The convention was held at Century Hotel in Malate, Manila. 


To discuss global reforms in medical education and how it can be applied in the local setting


  1. To discuss the current state of medical education in the Philippines.
  2. To identify the gaps between what is taught in medical schools and problems in the health care delivery system of the country.
  3. To identify the reforms that should be instituted to lessen theses gaps
  4. To discuss how medical schools can redesign their curriculum in order to institute these reforms.

Pre-Convention for the 47th APMC Annual Convention

APMC conducted a pre-convention workshop for its 47th annual convention on February 4, 2014. The workshop was held at Buenafe Auditorium, 4F Calderon Hall, UP Manila College of Medicine. 547 P. Gil St., Ermita, Manila. 

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) through its Technical Committee on Medical Education (TCME) is the lead agency in the Pre-Convention Program in collaboration with the APMC and PRC. The following agenda were discussed during the activity:

  1. Presentation of Self Study Report and Plans for Improvement
  2. CHED Meeting with Council of Deans and PRC

APMC Execom Meeting for January 2014

APMC Executive Committee (Execom) conducted its meeting on January 24, 2014 (8:30 AM) at Mario’s in Quezon City. The following agenda have been discussed during the meeting:

  1. Preparations for the 47th Annual Convention
  2. Housekeeping Issues
  3. Proposed amendment of our Amended Articles of Incorporation (as amended on December 10, 1983) in order to incorporate the Vision/Mission of APMCF formulated in January 2009
